At RAAF Base Townsville, Boeing Defence Australia's (BDA's) team of rotorcraft experts is on the frontline, keeping Australia’s most iconic military helicopter — the Boeing CH-47F Chinook — mission ready, while preparing for the future of Army Aviation.
BDA has operated in Townsville since 2011, when we supported aircrew and ground technical training. In 2014, we commenced maintenance support of the Australian Army’s newly acquired CH-47F Chinook fleet. What started as a fleet of 7 F model Chinooks has grown to 14, with our team of 50 personnel on-site delivering aircraft maintenance, engineering, supply chain and aircrew training to ensure the fleet is ready for every mission – from regional humanitarian aid and disaster relief missions to global military operations.
Our presence in Townsville is set to surge over the coming three years as we prepare for the introduction of the world’s most formidable attack reconnaissance helicopter, the AH-64E Apache. The Australian Army is acquiring a fleet of 29 Apaches in Townsville, where Boeing Defence Australia will support Army with maintenance, engineering, aircrew and maintainer training, and logistics. With the first four aircraft scheduled to arrive at the end of 2025, we have a range of exciting job opportunities that will take your career to new heights.
