Wakulda (formerly known as Vigilare) is a core component of the Royal Australian Air Force’s (RAAF) air defence surveillance network. Developed and sustained by Boeing Defence Australia, it is a complex, integrated air defence command and control system which receives, interprets and consolidates data from over 250 defence and civil radars and other sensors to generate and display the Australian Recognised Air Picture. Data is drawn from platforms and sensors including:

• F/A-18 Super Hornet aircraft
• F-35 Joint Strike Fighter
• E-7A Wedgetail Airborne Early Warning & Control aircraft
• Jindalee Operational Radar Network
• Civil and military Air Traffic Management systems and radars
• P-8A maritime patrol aircraft
• Royal Australian Navy ships.

Since becoming operational in 2010, Wakulda has been incrementally upgraded in collaboration with the RAAF to enhance its capability.

Wakulda is operated by the RAAF at Williamtown in New South Wales and Edinburgh in South Australia.
